Compare thyself

Monday, here we go again.  I had an awesome weekend, good time with friends, fun with my family, nothing but wonderfulness.  I was very proud of myself, Saturday was nothing but go go go, and if I did not get up early there was no way I was going to get my mile in for my run streak.  Well, I got up early(I was hoping to get up a good 15 minutes earlier but oh well)and was able to get 1.4 miles in.

I was very proud of myself for getting up early and continuing my run streak, but it always feels like some else is doing better than me.  Running further, running faster, getting up earlier.  It is so easy to dismiss our own accomplishments.   This doesn’t just happen with fitness but everyday life!  House, kids, style, you name it I will compare what I have to what you have.  For the most part I think this is normal and possibly even healthy, but when does it become damaging?

What I feel my house looks like...

What I feel my house looks like...

What I feel like my friends house looks like...

What I feel like my friends house looks like...

Competition is good for us, it pushes us to do better, look at things from a different angle and encourage self growth but not good when you dwell on all the things you don’t have.  The lesson I have learned when comparing thyself with… well… everyone… is making sure you focus on YOUR strong points.  Don’t downplay your own accomplishments, we have worked hard for what we have and we should take pride in that.  Just because you don’t have the biggest house, newest clothes or fastest mile does not mean that what you have is less.  Lets all take pride in the work we have done to get where we are now.

See you tomorrow! (you better be here…. Kidding… not really)
