How do you keep track?
For the past few weeks I have been keeping track of my food intake and counting calories. MyfitnessPal is everything in life right now!
I don’t think it's working right, I mean how do eat all my calories for the day by 10 am….? Oh, that's not the app’s fault, but mine? Ohhhh…. So clearly I lost touch with portion sizes. I think portion control is one of the key players in maintaining weight loss. (This is what I imagine as I have never be able to maintain weight loss, probably because I struggle with portions...maybe) Having portion control is huge, it's amazing how small some portions seem now that I am counting calories. Cereal in particular is deceiving, what I think is a bowl of cereal is sometimes two and half servings which ends up being around 500 calories. After I account for milk and my coffee with cream my morning can be around 600 calories!!! I would be okay with that if it was nutrient dense, but I don’t think sweetened wheatfuls(frosted mini wheat in name brand) is jam packed full of health! Re-teaching myself how to eat is a struggle, especially when Myfitnesspal lies to me? ;)
When I am trying to lose weight I get so caught up in calories that if it doesn’t have an accurate calorie count I can’t eat it! How will I know how many calories I have left, how will I lose weight!? Tonight for example, I made one of our freezer meals and of course there is not a nutrition label on it, so instead of having a normal portion I had a bigger one…. Thankfully I did not eat enough for two high school football players but I did have a bigger one than was necessary. Ugh! It was a pasta ravioli! Who could blame me! (Side note, I am watching a TV show right now with child births and the mother is having a c-section where the mother has preeclampsia and I am sobbing! Sobbing right now! That was the position I was in) Okay back to stupid carbs. Weight loss is a journey is the lesson I have to learn.
How do you keep track of portions? Do you count calories? Macros? Smaller plate sizes? Let me know in the comment section below, I need all the help I can get!
